Mage of Madness
Also called Magician of Madness, this mission was added in v22.72.16 for Armonia Episode 3 update. The featured loot are Red Armonium Ore, Abyss Pieces, Recipe - Armonia Boots, and Page - Placidez (v23.63.43).
This guide is based on American game client (v22.80.01), then updated in v23.63.43. This raid mission is required for Recruit Patrick quests.
Mission Information
Location: Armonia Apostadero (E4/E5)
Frequency: 1/day
Participants: 3-12
Duration: 30 minutes
Entry Cost: None
Requirement: None
RAID PREPARATION
The squad will need 2 tanks (e.g. Sirius) - one on each side. If the attackers have good armors and has HP Absorb family attribute, it may be possible to do without the tanks.
One player will have to function as the Crystal Ball operator, preferably using a tank character as well to block the attacks of the mobs. Alternatively, he can also use Protection Field skill on any character while operating the crystal balls.
Attackers should stick to magic or shooting types, since it is harder for melee characters to avoid area bombardments (see below). The same is true for summoners, as you cannot control the movement of summoned monsters. All monsters are demons.
BOTTOM ROOM - START
Except for the starting area, the map is filled with Corrupted Combat Soldiers and Corrupted Peltasts. You can use area attacks (e.g. Montoro's Surrounding Bats skill) to clear them, or use Protection Field skill.
Upon starting the mission, the Crystal Ball operator should make his way to the top area. Do not run through the boss. Stay close to the walls as you go through the boss' room.
The rest of the squad should split up evenly to the left and right areas. Wait in the corridor before the boss' rooms until the Crystal Ball operator says that he is in position.
Once the Crystal Ball operator is in position, the tanks and attackers on both sides have to synchronize their attacks on the bosses. If one boss is being attacked while the other boss isn't, everyone will also suffer from Requiem status (see below) as well.
LEFT ROOM - ABYSS MADY
Abyss Mady deals splash magic damage. Abyss Mady has 2 skills - Blut Blitz and Booz Geist. Both skills deal mental damage to all within its circular area. Blut Blitz skill can also inflict Blood Subordination status, causing the affected character to become red and attack allies.
Do NOT lure Abyss Mady out of his room, or he will say: To the place where it used to be... and return to his spot and regenerate his HP.
(1) Area Bombardment
Soon after provoking the boss, 3 huge area bombardments will start casting, covering most of the room. There will be a safe area which is not covered by the area bombardments, so be sure everyone is in the safe area once you see the red circles denoting the area bombardment. Leave the edge of the safe area for the tank. Attackers should move further into the safe area.
For Abyss Mady, the initial safe area is at 3 o'clock (E7/E8). Every 20-30 seconds, the area bombardment will initiate, moving the safe area clockwise by 90 degrees. So start at the right side of the room. After the first area bombardment, move to the south where the next safe area will be. Keep moving clockwise by 90 degrees for each bombardment to stay in the safe area - 1st (right), 2nd (bottom), 3rd (left), 4th (top), 5th (right), etc.
(2) Crystal Ball Lights
Eventually, one boss will say: A red/blue light is shown. This means the light beam is triggered on the Crystal Ball in the top room. Say in squad chat (e.g. "red light") to tell the Crystal Ball operator.
If the operator clicked the Crystal Ball with the color mentioned by the boss, the other boss will say: Argh..., and will lose a chunk of HP. If the operator clicked the wrong color, the boss will say: The power has built up..., and may regain some HP.
If the Crystal Balls are not clicked in time, the boss will say: The end is coming. Everyone will then receive Lv.10 Requiem status, which inflicts DEF -300, All RES -75, Block/Evasion -75, ATK -75%, ATK Speed -75%, and Movement Speed -75% for 30 minutes. The status can be removed by some skills, such as Valeria's Redemption skill, but it will quickly reinstates itself.
(3) HP Coordination
Abyss Mady and Abyss Cray must be killed together not too long apart. Thus, attackers should periodically update the squad chat on the boss' HP percentage (e.g. "left boss - 50%"). Once Abyss Mady reaches around 1-2% HP, stop attacking. Wait until Abyss Cray also reaches around 1-2% HP, then kill both together.
Once one of them dies, the other boss will say: The end is coming. If you do not kill it fast, everyone will soon receive Lv.10 Requiem status (see above). At this point, the Crystal Balls will not work. The remaining boss will initiate Requiem whenever he is being attacked.
If the attackers are dead, everyone should use Soul Crystal together and then attack at the same time. If you attack individually one at a time, the boss will keep inflicting Requiem status again and again. Attackers need to be sure that they do not lure the boss out of the room, since if the tank suffers from Requiem status, he may die and cause the boss to change target.
If you are on Recruit Patrick quests, it is possible to quickly run over to the other boss using Red Lollipop and Hermes Potion to get both quest items in one run. But because of the Requiem status, raiders usually do not like to wait. If you cannot get both quest items, just get the other one on a separate run.
RIGHT ROOM - ABYSS CRAY
Abyss Cray is the same as Abyss Mady, except for what is noted below. Abyss Cray replaces Booz Geist with Vinster Geist skill, which still deals area mental damage.
For Abyss Cray, the initial safe area is at 9 o'clock (H7/H8), and the safe area rotation is anti-clockwise. Keep moving anti-clockwise by 90 degrees for each bombardment to stay in the safe area - 1st (left), 2nd (bottom), 3rd (right), 4th (top), 5th (left), etc.
TOP ROOM - CRYSTAL BALLS
There are 2 Crystal Balls in the top room. The operator should standby in the middle such that he can see both Crystal Balls. A tank is recommended, as the monsters' attacks can be blocked. Use Hermes Potion and other movement speed buffs (e.g. Shining Ballad) so you can click the ball quickly.
Eventually, a beam of red light and a beam of blue light will shine on the Crystal Balls. When this happens, quickly click on the ball with the light beam. Take note of what the attackers say in squad chat. When done properly, the light beam will turn horizontal and vanish. See above section on Crystal Ball Lights.
Once one boss is dead, the operator can go and help with the other boss, if desired.
Reward
Once both bosses are dead, a zone notice will say: A treasure chest has appeared. Click on the chest in the top room (F4/G4) to start the roulette. Bonus roulette costs 4,000,000 Vis. The following roulette table is taken from American game client (v22.80.01).
In v23.63.43, Page - Placidez was added to the roulette.
