Recently, Singapore Granado Espada initiated a bot sweep, and banned accounts based on function logs. See [Notice] Botting, Map Restarts and Permanent Suspensions. There are some questions concerning client customization. IAH Staff, Xanxus, clarified the matter thus:

Do note that the function logs certain actions caused by the bot, which is linked to the map restarts. Those accounts logged will be suspended permanently when we do a sweep.
If you are using a different language pack, it will not trigger a 'Botting' log. [Source]

The key issue is, botters in one map can trigger a DC in another map. This is linked to how the maps are arranged on the servers. IMC keeps this a secret. [Source]

Well, the camera one isn't affected. Remember that it is the actions made by the bot commands which are logged. [Source]

Note that he did not say changing sound files is "legal" with respect to the terms of service. It's probably more like "it doesn't affect servers/players, so we don't really care if you do it discreetly" kind of thing. In any case, doing so won't mark you down as a "bot" as quoted above. If you chooses to do so, you can download selected sound effects files (se.ipf) of other GE clients from 悠轉幻境: Granado Espada, or install and copy/paste from other GE clients.

There is a Supply Soldier near Leonardo in Auch, Coimbra, and Reboldeaux (channel 1). If you talk to the NPC during Colony War, you will get a Supply Distribution mission in your Quest window (Alt+A). The mission level (Expert or Novice) is based on family level. The mission number is random.

The quest requires you to collect 30 Strange Spheres and a random set of items (see below). Strange Spheres drop in most open field maps, but only during Colony War. They cannot be traded.

Expert [1] - Piece of Ruby x30
Expert [2] - Piece of Sapphire x30
Expert [3] - Piece of Emerald x30
Expert [4] - Tough Cotton Yarn x100
Expert [5] - Ice Crystal x300
Expert [6] - Philosopher's Stone x300
Expert [7] - Food of Capybara x100
Expert [8] - Bulk of Gold x300
Expert [9] - Mega Talt x50
Expert [10] - Rhodolite Piece x50

Novice [1] - Unpolished Red Gem x30
Novice [2] - Unpolished Blue Gem x30
Novice [3] - Unpolished Green Gem x30
Novice [4] - Magical Sphere x100
Novice [5] - ?
Novice [6] - Otite Piece x300
Novice [7] - Gold Piece x300
Novice [8] - Bulk of Silver x300
Novice [9] - Soft Cotton Yarn x100
Novice [10] - Cabosse x100

When you have collected all the required items, talk to the NPC again during Colony War to receive 1 Reward Box of Supply and 1 Certificate of Supply. Both items cannot be traded. According to Leif here, the box is known to drop randomly the following:

  • 1 Rose Wing (1 Day) [AR/DR +1, ATK +10%, DEF +10, HP +1500, SP +300, 5% HP Drain]
  • 1 Combat Manual (Event) [EXP+50% for 5 hours]
  • 5 Level 90 H EXP Card [EXP + 920,000]
  • 3 Veteran B EXP Card [EXP + 1,400,000]
  • 2 Veteran G EXP Card [EXP + 14,000,000]
  • 4 Training Card A [Stance EXP +250,000]
  • 2 Training Card B [Stance EXP +500,000]
  • 1 Honor Card A [Family Reputation +100]
  • 1 Honor Card B [Family Reputation +500]
  • 1 Honor Card C [Family Reputation +1000]
  • 1 Ring Box (Event)
  • 5 Mystic Ampule (Event)
  • 1 Great Stone [100k feso]
  • 1 Earth Stone [10k feso]
  • 5 Sun Stones [1k feso]

According to Lorenza here, the certificate is useless by itself. It is however sometimes used for events, such as Spoils of War. Post a comment if you know the required items for Novice [5] quest.

To take advantage of the last few days of Drop Rate +30% Event, the family collected more Ancient Runes and Rhodolite Pieces in Errac. They also went to Ustiur Base Camp and successfully refined both keys for Room of the Dead (aka Barrow de la Muerte, Sea Cave of the Revenant). See [v3.5 Feature] Ravyn Gets A Boost. Unfortunately, Frenzied Ravyn did not spawn on both attempts. Lara (Brunie) bought 10 Angler Spinelles, and summoned 3 Swamp Anglers. Nothing worthwhile dropped again.

Thelandira (f/mus), Visca (Grace), and Qilue (f/sco) managed to solo raid Castilla Mine a few times by luring each of the bosses away from their minions. In the case of immobile bosses (e.g. Chaos Chrysalis), lure the minions away instead. The main problem was Chaos Basilisk, whose buffed attack can one-hit knock out a character. It can still be brought down with some effort, such as fear/stun/freeze/burn lock or hit-and-run in a larger cavern such as the one for Chaos Phobitan General. Bring a Lv.100 character from an alternate/mule family as anchor for extra security and bonus roulette loots. (See Guide: Easiest Way To Kill Basilisk and How Do I Kill The Basilisk In Castilla? for more details.)

For the final boss Chaos Decaravia, after the video sequence ended, run backwards as far as possible and fight the boss there. This would avoid having to deal with his skeletal minions and their pesky knock-downs. The benefit of solo raid is that you can keep all non-roulette loots (e.g. Ancient Relic Pieces, Enchantment Chips, Mega Quartz) and don't have to wait for people to show up at the entrance, but obviously it takes more effort and time than doing it in a squad.

The family also joined a squad to clear Castilla Relic mission using 1 Gold Ancient Relic, and received Elite Arondight and Pure Gold Bar from Tempest's roulette chest. The 2nd run ended with Elite Mantis Rod and Pure Gold Bar. Again. All these super-lame roulette drops are making me want to slap those IMC game developers. Nobody is expecting epic drops all the time, but at least each trip should reward something marginally worthwhile. In any case, the family took its first steps into Castilla Temple, one of the more beautiful, scenic maps in Granado Espada.

The family also raided Team Arena, Accursed Bahamar, Accursed Sedecram, Arsene's Secret Vault, Torsche's Basement, and Joaquin Underground Prison. The sad part is that all the new raids didn't drop anything worthwhile. The only thing marginally worth noting was Artisan's Grieves Recipe from Accursed Sedecram. On the other hand, good, old Team Arena dropped Symbol of Aquarius, Symbol of Capricorn, Symbol of Libra, Symbol of Cancer, and Le Noir (wiz) Recipe.

The Masters ventured into Occulta Fortress again, collecting Constellation Music Notes for Prelude stance, and finishing off the Necroshamans for the Captain of Errac. Eventually, Thelandira (f/mus) reached Master Lv.4. The family reached Lv.41+3, and received its back-log of Level-Up Gift Boxes. The boxes drop certain fixed items (e.g. potions), plus additional random item.
  • Lv.2: Healing Potion x50, Soul Potion x20 + Bunny Band (30 days) x1 or Triumph Filler (Event) x6 or Backsmith Cap (30 days x1)
  • Lv.4: Healing Liquor x50, Soul Liquor x20 + Pet Food x20
  • Lv.5: Healing Liquor x100, Soul Liquor x40 + Pet Food x30 or Triumph Filler (Event) x12
  • Lv.7: Health Filler x50, Soul Liquor x50 + Triumph Filler (Event) x15 or Devil Wing (15 days) x1
  • Lv.9: Health Filler x100, Soul Liquor x50, Veteran Polish x7, L100 Enchantment Chip x1 + Pet Food x50 or Socket Flux (Event) x1 or Tactics Manual (20% for 7 days; Event) x1
The family acquired a few more medals, including [Castilla Relic Explorer] and [Castilla Temple Prospector]. The medal system is refreshing for its novelty, but after a while, it becomes tiresome due to too many text covering the screen. Besides, the medals don't really do anything anyway. You can disable medal display with View Medal option in Game Options (Alt-O).

The family experienced 18 disconnections this week, disrupting several missions and events - Arsene's Vault x1, Accursed Sedecram x2, Torsche's Basement x1, Team Arena x1, Castilla Mine x1, and Colony War x2. This is so full of crap. Having 18 disconnections in 1 week is just stupid. Naturally, this Colony War was full of lag, disconnections, and client freeze during zoning. The occupying clans this week are Schiavona (9), Phalanx (7), ShakeTheHeavens (3), What (3), and Koroshiya (1).

Quest Story: Emilia's Institute of Mental Disorder
Emilia's studies have resulted in dissociative identity disorder, and Crazy Emilia was Emilia's alter ego. After attempting to access the secrets of the Ancients which are even more powerful than the Constellation strength, her alter ego emerged. Crazy Emilia liked Gertrude, despite him being "a little old", and decided to use him to fulfill her desire and become her first sacrifice. So she attacked Gertrude when he visited Emilia's Institute in Coimbra. After being defeated, this crazy alter ego of Emilia said that she was acting independently for the first time in 20 years.

Gertrude continued to stalk Emilia even after her father's request ended, sending agents from Vespanola back and disabling their traps. This kept Emilia safe while she was "poking around dangerous things". Gertrude also gave a new meaning to the game term "Secret Guard". He "commissioned" himself to stalk Emilia, and when she was flattered by his attention, Gertrude said he didn't have personal feelings for her and he acted because he owed her father a lot when he was young. After being sort of rejected, Emilia told him to just get the **** off.

The entire quest rewarded the family with Crazy Emilia Card, Damaged Ancient Polish x3, and Veteran G (14m) EXP Card x3. Now, she joined Ashardalon family, and was named Eisheth (Crazy Emilia) after an angel of sacred prostitution in Zoharistic Kabbalah.

After mastering her basic stances, she consumed 75 L60H (436k) EXP Cards for Lv.70 → Lv.80, 59 L80H (800k) EXP Cards for Lv.80 → Lv.90, and 70 L90H (920k) EXP Cards for Lv.90 → Lv.100. All these cards from Team Arena chests turned out to be useful in the end, promoting Eisheth (Crazy Emilia) to Veteran level. Then after mastering her Veteran stances, she consumed Veteran EXP Cards to reach Expert Lv.1, and started training her unique Madness stance.

After the Age of Renaissance arrived, the family went ahead and completed the quests involving Crazy Emilia, Catherine Torsche, and Valleria, thereby meeting the prerequisites for related raid missions. The 3 characters will remain in their cards for now, so their stories will be related next time. There are too many things to cover in one weekly journal anyway. Plus, I don't want to finish all the new things too fast anyway. It's going to be some time before G1 updates again, so it seems prudent to leave yourself something to do over the long wait time for the next patch.

The family used some reserved Constellation Symbols to acquire Shadow Sting for Artemisia (Calyce), Tested Burst for Lolita (Claire), and Peltast and Crusader for Athena (f/fig). They used 140 Upgrade Accelerators and 3 Lacquers +5: Expert in the processing of upgrading Accuracy of Pegasus (crossbow) and Insight of Antares (javelin) to +6, and Judgment of Bywn (staff) to +5. Socket Flux x3 were wasted in 2nd socket attempts. The +7 upgrade and socket opening will just have to wait for the family to acquire more vis.

The enchantment process used 250 Veteran Enchantment Chips and Enchant Boosters. The crossbow was enchanted with ATK + Human, while javelin was enchanted with ATK + Daemon. The javelin's racial damage is rather low, but it will have to do for now. The staff was enchanted with ATK + ATK Rating, but unfortunately the ATK is low as well.

As compensation for the removal of Lv.1-80 Polish, the family received 1071 Shiny Crystals. Because of the ninja patch (i.e. no pre-patch announcement), the family wasn't able to farm the existing boss spinelles for more Polish items. The family was also missing 1 symbol to craft Constellation Polearm. If the patch was announced beforehand, the family would have bought or traded for the missing symbol to craft the weapon.

Adorabelle (f/ele) returned from Lightning Gate with Knuckle of Raionu (knuckle) and Einschiever Sword (great sword). The family also completed several Arsene Circus and Team Arena missions, looting Symbol of Leo, Le Noir (ele) Recipe, and Le Noir (wiz) Recipe. After the ninja patch, Soteira (Helena) brought the family to Arsene's Secret Vault. But repeated disconnections plagued the raids. In the end, she only completed one such raid.

Following up on log d.: Raid Galore, the family took up bounty hunting for Bribantra, King of Greed, and Boneless. After trading Veteran Tokens for the treasure key, the Masters joined other families to raid Dr. Torsche's Mansion Basement, just to see what kinky things the good doctor kept in his basement closets. Naturally, the basement was swarming with lots of life-sized dolls. The debuff that locks skills and drains HP/SP was so annoying with the mob swarms in the latter rooms. Compared to the trials you needed to get to the final boss, Victor was a sort of anti-climax. A clan mate got Dragon Heart Recipe from the roulette chest, while the family received White Gold Bar instead. Since you need 1 White Gold Bar to start the mission, it was like Dr. Torsche saying, "Here's your ticket returned to you! Thanks for coming!"

The Masters also visited Castilla, and started raiding Castilla Mine and exploring Castilla Ruins, including a visit to disturb the sleeping king. Having Pure Gold Bar in the roulette chest is just plain dumb. The family returned from Castilla with an awful lot of stupid Lv.84 elite equipment. They started on Castilla Episode 1, and gained the basic [Castilla Mine Explorers], [Castilla Ruins Prospector], [Steel Ararat of Chaos Slayer], [Phobitan General of Chaos Slayer], and [Basilisk of Chaos Slayer] medals.

With v5.0 Colony War Changes, all colonies were reset. The war ended with typical final zerg rush, resulting in the following occupant clans and their number of colonies - Schiavona (11), Phalanx (8), ShakeTheHeavens (2), Core (1), and What (1). Too bad there's no more Colony Protection Buff for everyone under the new system.

In any case, the event colony was held by Royalist faction, and the Masters made their first venture to Joaquin Underground Prison raid mission. Now, I understand what some sGE bloggers meant by "f**king bioman" when referring to this raid. After dying over and over again, the squad finally took down Testormento. The family received Honor Card B (500 reputation) and Cut Physical RES Necklace Recipe from the roulette chest. Meh.

The family experienced 10 disconnections this week - one during Colony War and several during Team Arena and Arsene's Secret Vault raid missions.

Renaissance v5.0.23 introduces 3 new recruitable characters. All 3 character cards are tradable. See the recruitment quest details for Crazy Emilia, Valleria, and Catherine Torsche.

Emilia's Institute: Crazy Emilia
The entire quest mission lasts for 15 minutes. I used Master Musketeer (Flintlock), Master Emilia (Enhanced Tactics/ESP), and Expert Gertrude (Book of Earth) to complete the quest mission in about 12 minutes, after using Boost Potion. The strategy is simple - using a tank (Gertrude) to draw her attention, while DPS shoots her from far behind to avoid her splash attacks and area attacks. After defeating her, remember to click on the fallen Emilia with Gertrude to trigger the last bit of dialog.

Joaquin Torture Chamber: Valleria
The entire quest mission lasts for 30 minutes. In the first room, keep killing monsters until a zone-wide notice says:

The seal of the Warp Gate has opened due to the weakened monsters.

Kingdom Ogre is straight-forward. Just kill it.

The strategy to fight Testormento is similar to fighting Crazy Emilia. The boss' area attack is directional, so tank him with a melee character and let DPS shoots him from far behind. Support character should stay even further away for safety.

When he summons mobs at 25% HP, run away. Lure the mobs around in circles, and pick them off one by one. Then, reform your position and finish off the boss. After he is defeated, remember to click on the Power Plant to complete the mission.

Master Romina (Equites), Master Musketeer (Flintlock), and Master Emilia (Enhanced Tactics/ESP) completed the mission in 28 minutes, using 3 Boost Potions.

See also [YouTube] Granado Espada ヴァレリア編入クエスト攻略動画 for video guide.

Dramatic Meeting: Catherine Torsche
The entire quest mission has 1 hour duration. How fast Catherine spawns depends on your kill rate. You may wish to farm some Enhanced Antidotes from Dr. Torsche's Mansion, Grand Library before continuing. It is not really necessary though.

At the start, Gwraig will speak her first line:

Then a zone-wide notice will announce:

The entrance will be closed soon. Please hide quickly.

Enter the main room, and start clearing mobs as fast as you can. This means if you can survive, don't hide in the stairwell where there aren't that many monsters. Gwraig will speak her 2nd line:

They. Are. Strong. Fight. Til. The. End. For. Our. Master.

Continue clearing mobs. Gwraig will speak her 3rd line:

Kill. That. Traitor. Catherine. First.

Eventually, Montoro will start talking. It took me about 15 minutes to trigger Montoro's speech. After the dialog ends, Catherine will spawn. Lure her over to stairwell, and defeat her. Use Spiritual RES Potion to resist her debuffs. Nothing special about the fight, just make sure your Catherine doesn't die.

I used Master Romina (Equites), Master Musketeer (Outrage Shot), and Expert Catherine STR (High Guard) to finish her off, using AM Boost and Mystic Potion (or Election Compensation Potion). The entire mission took about 25 minutes.

Sword 2 finally received its Renaissance (v5.0.23) update. The last update (v4.1.2) was launched in June 2010. (See Sword 2 Launch.) So this update took about 8 months. The patches involved for this update are 128945, 132888, 132939, 132978, 133020, and 133056.

For related forum topics, see the following:

For detailed write-ups, see [GE-SG] Renaissance v5.0.3 instead. Since v5.0.23 is a few patches ahead, see also Book of Fire or Book of Wind.

Gah. I wish G1 stop ninja patching though. It isn't that hard to make an announcement a few days in advance of the patch. This at least gives players a bit of time to finish whatever else that needed to be finished (e.g. crafting, stocking up items) in the current version.

Talk to Leonardo and select Receive Premium Items (or access from toolbar) to get free promotional scrolls (from pioneering quests) and Shiny Crystals. You may also receive Slot Permission item if you have Premium Treasure Chest. Rings can be reclaimed from Market Manager Cabinet.

New Blog Header v5.0
Added new v5.0 header for the blog. This header has been stored on my computer for a long time. Some of the images are taken from Renders Made By Reos. Below is the previous v4.1 header, featuring Al Quet Moreza:

Russia GE (v4.1.2) has released its 2nd test report for v5.0.23 here. Essentially, they have fixed critical bug of Reckless Emilia and quest for Valeria. The team is editing text to fit into the dialog box (!) and correcting translation errors. Localization seems to be partially done, and loading screens have been set. See also Tester's Reports forum topic for assorted write-ups and lots of screenshots.

It seems like IMC is putting Sword 2 and Russia GE on the same priority level. Notice that the current and upcoming version numbers are the same for both editions? Perhaps IMC has just one team working on the patch for both editions to save resources. I wonder who will update first - Sword 2 or Russia GE?

Thailand GE is currently in v4.5.8. [Download] A new cash shop box introduced Dragon Eye Bracelet (AR 30 LOE) and Dragon's Magic Staff (AR 32 staff) here.

Taiwan GE is currently in v5.0.3. [Download] Angel Revolver (AR 33 pistol) is now available via their web game here.

The Masters continued to train their stances, as the family completed 12 Team Arena and 7 Arsene Circus missions, looting Symbol of Aquarius, Symbol of Pisces, Symbol of Aries, Symbol of Sagittarius, Le Noir (mus) Recipe, and Mystic Shoes. This week's maintenance slapped right between both Team Arenas. Arsene's Treasure Chests also dropped Siren Scale Recipe, 5 White Gold Bars, and 6 Veteran G (14m) EXP Cards.

The family had another (2nd) random encounter with the Bellboy of Mein, so the veterans took it down and stole its Silver Hammer. It seems like nobody cares about Sharffenberger (aka Vergo) anymore, unlike previously pioneers actually actively hunt for it.

The family experienced 4 disconnections this week. During the weekend, clan, group, and squad systems broke down. Again, followed by another extinction event just like Week 117. This is rather ironic, because the extinction of monsters make the Bonus Drop Rate +30% event ineffectual. See here for explanation on drop rate bonus. The extinction issue then resulted in an emergency maintenance, and everyone missed out on Faction Fight just before Colony War.

Anyway, this is what the trolls have amounted to: bug exploitation during Colony War. Still, GameOver clan, which has supporting/alternate/mule families in Serpens clan, did not take a single colony by the end of the war. The exploit is not really effective anyway, since there are quite a few ways around it.

For people who don't know what's wrong with the above picture: This family continues attacking my clan's colony even though he is not red to my clan. A clan mate made the video version below. (JavaScript must be enabled.)

Using Spinelles On Others
Anyway, so someone asked me if I have been using spinelles on some random family in Forgotten Area... which is weird, because I haven't been to Forgotten Area in almost a year (probably more). So just to clear up any mis-identification...

My personal policy is that I do not use spinelles on other families without provocation. Provocation is usually only when your characters are killing mobs in my spot, and you refused to move after I have made several requests to keep your characters at a fair distance. I considered a spot "mine" if the area is unoccupied when I first arrived there. Dead and passive (i.e. non-attacking, such as knocked out of attack mode or out of bullets) characters do not count for occupation. If the area is occupied by living, attacking characters, I will just find another spot.

Even with provocation, I'm more likely to drag your AFK characters away from my spot with a mob train than to use spinelles for 2 reasons - (1) I prefer to use my spinelles for farming or sale, and (2) I don't usually carry spinelles in my inventory.

Most players are already somewhat familiar with Faction Fight (aka El Antiguo Patrimonio), so this is no big secret. But since there isn't a comprehensive write-up on it, I wrote something for new players and uh, players who are a bit out-of-touch.

Everyday at 5.30 pm (PST), there will be a server-wide notice:

[Notice] The Faction Fight warp gate will open in 30 minutes.

There will be another one at 5.50 pm (PST):

[Notice] The Faction Fight warp gate will open in 10 minutes.

And finally, another one at 6.00 pm (PST):

[Notice] The Faction Fight Warp Gate has opened in Queen's Gate (For Royalists) and Thueringen (For Republicans).

Republicans can then enter the Faction Fight Entrances at Thueringen Lakeside (D6), while Royalists can enter at Reboldeaux Queen's Gate (D2). The gates will spawn in Channel 1 only, and will vanish after 30 minutes. Each entry costs 20 Reputation Points. Faction Fight takes place in 2 different maps - one for Royalists, one for Republicans.

About 10 minutes after the gates opened, Ancient Gerero (L112 Daemon) will spawn at the 3 indicated spots in the starting area. When killed, a warp gate will spawn behind Gerero's spawn point.

The warp gate will bring you to another area where Ancient Diablo (L118 Daemon), Ancient Sharffenberger (L120 Human), and Ancient Hell Breaker (L118 Golem) reside. The bosses are accompanied by some minions, like the normal raid versions. When killed, each of them will drop 5 L100 Enchantment Chips and 1 Hero's Seal, and another warp gate will spawn in the middle leading to one of the waiting platforms.

When all three bosses are dead, a warp gate will spawn at both waiting platforms, leading back to the starting area. In the middle of the starting area, there will be a warp gate leading to the last area, where you have to destroy a Royalist/Republican Colony (L136, HP 5000). Some hostile Royalist/Republican Guards (L114-116 Human) may spawn to defend the colony. Once the colony is destroyed, there will be a server-wide notice:

[Notice] Royalists/Republicans have liberated El Antiguo Patrimonio from the Republicans/Royalists.

The colony will be replaced by a Beacon. The faction which destroys the colony first will be able to acquire from the Beacon [Bless of Ancient] buff, which grants the active characters ATK/DEF Rating +1 for 24 hours. The buff persists after becoming mercenary, and is "paused" while the character is in the quarters.

The listed times are for Orpesia server, which is based on PST. Other servers may have different starting times. See also [v2.6 Feature] Arena of the Ancients and 古代の遺跡 for detailed stats of the bosses and other information.

[Sword2] Faction Fight Bug
A bug has existed in Sword 2 for a long time. The event is supposed to be a race against time. The faster faction gets the buff, but the slower faction won't be able to get any buff at all. However, in Sword 2, even the slower faction can still get the buff so long as they managed to destroy the colony. *Shrugs* It doesn't work the way it is supposed to, but since it benefits everyone, I guess nobody bothers to complain about it.

Furthermore, the event requires at least 1 Royalist AND 1 Republican clan to proceed. [Source] If no Royalist (or Republican) show up, then the other side will be stuck. This doesn't seem to be the case in Sword 2 as well.

v5.0 Update
Since v5.0, Ancient Gerero spawned immediately after the main gate is open, instead of 10 minutes later.

Meh. Going around in circles. Well, at least I explored some options...

1. Invite-Only Access
This was my first resort, but I overlooked the following initially:

Apparently, admin/authors also count as "readers". So there are only 99 possible invites. Assuming I reserve some invites for my clan, I will still have to share the remaining invites between Sword 2 and sGE readers. After one day, my IAH forum inbox is already almost full. Too many innocent people will get screwed over with this.

2. Move To Other Hosts
Exporting the blog is possible, but problematic due to broken links within the posts. Going through 600+ posts to fix them? I think not. Also, while Wordpress has a nice built-in content control (see Page Visibility), it doesn't allow the user to edit/save CSS stylesheet without paying. I can't even adjust the width of the post column, so my existing pictures will get cropped off. This is way too much work. No time to do this properly.

I suppose there just isn't a perfect solution. Anyway, I'm still not too comfortable with restricting a large group of people over a few individuals. So I'm going to reopen the blog to public access despite all the nonsense, and maybe limit selected future posts with text encryption. (Too lazy to edit old posts for now.) The latter will help a bit with self-censorship issues.

The question of how to circulate the passwords remain though. I thought of using forum private message, but IAH forums only allow a message to be sent to a maximum of 2 recipients. Maybe I will use the e-mail addresses I received so far for a mailing list instead. I will think about it some more before deciding. In any case, the passwords are not to be circulated without my permission. Otherwise, I won't send them to you anymore.

This is how it works. JavaScript must be enabled. The Password is: Password

I hope this will be okay for most people. Sorry for the inconvenience caused over the past few days.

Oh, by the way, just to share some interesting blog statistics implemented by Blogger since June 2010. The blog first started in August 2007, so all the time before June 2010 wasn't counted.

A few players have messaged me in the forums, so I think I should at least post something on this blog status. This blog will be closed to public for several reasons. Access will be invite-only for personal friends via e-mail. I will leave this post up for a while before I resume blogging again. Thanks for the interest so far.

Do Not Feed Trolls
One of the reasons is that I do not wish to share any more information directly (or indirectly through their friends) to players who persisted in trolling both in-game and/or in the forums. In fact, I have considered closing the blog for many months, but refrained from doing so on the basis that many of my readers do not troll, and in fact, do not share the same server or even game service provider. But more and more players are taking to trolling (and some old trolls came back as well just to, well, troll). Perhaps because they are bored out of their minds due to repeated update delays and/or imagined slights.

I'm glad that players from other GE editions (Singapore, Japan, Russia, etc.) have found my blog useful or at least, somewhat entertaining. But there are plenty of other sites out there. Some things I have here can also be found elsewhere. Although a few tidbits are taken from my own experiments and data mining, so other sites probably won't have them unless they attempt the same "research".

I would like to thank players who have:

  • shared their own gaming experiences online;
  • maintained online databases and wiki-type sites; and/or
  • written assorted game guides in the forums.
These players have spent time and effort, in their own ways, to help the GE online community. At the very least, they have contributed to keep interests in the game alive. And interests are constantly waning due to perpetual patch delays. As for players who have contributed nothing and only existed to troll, flame, brag, insult, and/or be a nuisance... well, they really should do something more constructive and useful with their time, if they are really that bored.

Less Self-Censorship
The invite-only permission also allows me to post more things, including stuffs which I have kept to myself so far. The couple of players whom I have personally taught some stuffs probably know about 10%-30% of them. I can thus post more freely without having to pause to consider if I should make something public knowledge or not, which can have in-game consequences, unnecessary competition, and stuffs like that.

v5.0 Coming Soon™
And, of course, there is, ironically, waning game interest. Sword 2 is still stuck in v4.1, while GE-SG has already updated to v6.3. Everything becomes repetitive and somewhat ritualistic. This eventually just gets tiresome. The highly random elements just heighten this sensation. Billions of vis can go poof! in a few minutes, and you still have nothing to show for it in the end. I'm sure many Sword 2 players feel the same.

I have moved the actual blog elsewhere, so I can continue to blog without removing this notice. Thanks again for the interest over the years.

The blog list has been updated. Some blogs were removed for lack of (game-related) updates:

IAHGames is having another cash cow-milking event for Valentine's Day Eve (Feb 13, 2011). Vote for your favorite GM with Chocolate Hearts (available from Hellena's Circus of Fate web game).

The top voter of each GM will win a XXX's Lover medal, Asoka Character Card, [Sect of Moonlight] Stance Book, and an in-game date with the GM. The top voter of the most popular GM will also get a Kurenai (AR 33 great sword).

In the similar Valentine's Day 2009 event, the top voter spent about SGD 597.58 (or USD 394.44) to win a Constellation Weapon. The entire event involved a total of 79,470 Heart Chocolates, earning IAHGames at least SGD 2,837.08 (or USD 1,872.66). So it is no surprise that they would repeat the same event. Get the milk buckets ready, because it is time to capitalize on the cash cows again!

Comparatively, see バレンタイン中止のお知らせ for Japan's Valentine's Day event.

GE Taiwan is having a Lunar New Year event from Jan 25 to Feb 09, 2011. Each family can receive an event key by posing before the event NPC in Queen's Gate. The key can be used to open Bronze/Silver/Gold treasure chests in the fields. Rewards include Lucky Pouch (EXP +20%), Principal Ampule (Event), permanent costumes (e.g. Traditional Korean Costume for Fighter/Elementalist), and hair/hats (e.g. Bunny Band). See 兔年行大禮 好運獎不完.

In addition, they have also released Angel Rapier (AR 33) and Blue Serpent Costume for Scout until Feb 11 at 天使武器第七彈-天使西洋劍. Constellation Weapon Recipes and White Tiger Pet are also available until Feb 28 at 星座寵物回饋送第一重. These are all lucky draw rewards, which is something like a web game.

GE Singapore, GE Thailand, and GE Russia are also having the same Lunar New Year event. See Gong Hei Fatt Choy! [GE-SG], Lunar New Year 2011 [GE-TH], and Подарки к Новому году! [GE-RU]. Meanwhile, GE Vietnam is having EXP +50% event during Feb 01-15, 2011. See Đón xuân Tân Mão - Tăng 50% EXP.

The family completed 13 Team Arena and 7 Arsene Circus missions, looting Symbol of Pisces, Symbol of Cancer, and 2 veteran gloves/boots. Bleh. Yet another week with pathetic drops. All the Rough Stones didn't yield anything much either. After reading a forum guide here, the Masters decided to attempt a solo raid on Infiltration mission just to test it out.

Buffed up with Protection Field, the Masters ran straight for Diablo, bypassing the Rotating Blades and the 4 small rooms. (Clearing the mini-boss in the small rooms would provide additional buffs.) After being reduced to 50% HP, Diablo went into a fit and started using damaging stun skills. Eventually, the family took down Diablo...

This Diablo of Infiltration dropped Hilt of Elite Grim-Wraith, 3 Lv.84 elite equipment, 4 Lv.88-96 equipment, 7 Lv.92 Enchantment Chips, 2 Lv.96 Enchantment Chips, Summon Black Reaper Ring, Grand Level Valkyrie Crasher, Diamond Coupon, and 2 Bellem's Boxes. The treasure chest at the end dropped Lv.84 Elite Earth Knuckle.

Oh sure, Lv.84 elites are exactly the kind of drops players want when they fight a Lv.131 monster with 22 million hit points. Is the loot even worth the trouble? *shrugs* Supposedly, it can drop Symbol of Aquarius though. [Source] But even then...

The family received 30-days Master Explorer Pack (aka 30% Home Premium Service) as part of Infrastructure Upgrade Compensation. The family experienced 2 disconnections this week.

Sword 2 is having a forum contest for Loading Screens during Feb 05-26, 2011. The 10 winners will be rewarded with 3 Crystal Wings (30-days). Submit your entries at Renaissance Loading Screen Contest Submission. You can discuss about the entries and contest at Renaissance Loading Screen Contest Discussion.

The above is my entry, taken within Infiltration mission. I considered using the screenshot of Merif or Wetis (see Expedition into the Land of the Dead), but couldn't decide which one, so ended up with Diablo instead.
