Recruit Cherlyn

Sorceress of Red Flames quests were added in v26.19.55. In v27.56.86, this quest will be made easier by reducing amount of quest items or improving their drop rates. You will need the following items to recruit Cherlyn:
  • Philosopher's Stone x500 (x100 in v27.56.86)
  • Bristia Style Meat Stew x1 = Old Journal 2 x25, Clear Rum x50, Brawn x10, Wolf Meat x10, Comodo Meat x10, and Cook Stone x1.
You will need the following items to create Witch Craft (AR34 grimoire):
  • Ambrosia x3
  • Magic Weapon Crystal - Grade 33 x3
  • Elemental Jewel x15


This guide has been updated according to American game client (v26.60.82).

Synopsis :
After her defeat by Ararat, Cherlyn has been visiting Ulrik for rematch. You defeat her Treasure Golem, which Ulrik claimed to have ended its contract because Cherlyn did not give it what it needed.

After drinking some tea, Cherlyn runs off to recruit Lava Leaf, but fails to subdue it. She returns to Ulrik's hut to treat her wounds. Ulrik tells her that she needs to stop treating her summons as merely weapons.

Cherlyn has nowhere to go, since Hernandez kicked her out for her failure and she contemplated suicide. Ulrik worries that other servants of the marquis would come after her. She tries to take her frustration out on you, but you kick her ass instead.

She runs off to recruit Pollux, which rejects her due to her insincerity. You collect some materials for Cherlyn in her tsundere mode. She then returns to the Whirlpool of Flame and shows that she remembers how Treasure Golem cared for her. It is still not enough, so you cook a meat stew for Ion to treat Catherine in exchange for some of his frost power.

Using Ion's frost power, Cherlyn manages to subdue and recruit Lava Leaf. She then challenges Ulrik, but Viki intervenes with Steel Ararat. Cherlyn defeats it with her new fire golem. Ulrik comments that Cherlyn has grown and asks her to stay with you since she has nowhere to go...

Prerequisites: Completed Judgment Day scenario and Recruit Viki quests.
  1. Trigger quest mail by moving to any town.
  2. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut via El Tejado Verde (G3).
  3. Trigger a quest dialogue in El Tejado Verde (G3).
  4. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut via El Tejado Verde (G3) to start a combat mission ("100th Challenge", 30 minutes).
    • Defeat Cherlyn and Treasure Golem.

  2. Talk to Viki in Strange Hut (E3).
  3. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10).
  4. Trigger a non-combat mission ("Contract") in Topolo Durga (D5).
  5. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10).

Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
  1. Trigger a quest dialogue in El Tejado Verde (G3).
  2. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3).
  3. Trigger a combat mission ("Battle Against Cherlyn", 30 minutes) in El Tejado Verde (G3).
    • Defeat Cherlyn.
  4. Trigger a quest dialogue in El Tejado Verde (G3).
  5. Trigger a non-combat mission ("Summoner's Qualification") in Tetra Ruins Golden Road (K6).

Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
  1. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10).
  2. Collect Philosopher's Stone x500, which is dropped by monsters in Katovic Snowfield and Frozen Plain.
    • In v27.56.86, the amount will be reduced to 100.
  3. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10) to give her the above items.
  4. Collect Magic Stone of Chaos Lava Leaf (quest item) x3 by killing Chaos Lava Leaf (10%) in Castilla Relic mission.
    • In v27.56.86, the drop rate will be improved to 50%.
  5. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10) to give her the above items.
  6. Trigger a combat mission ("What Lava Leaf Really Wants", 30 minutes) in Topolo Durga (D5).
    • Defeat Lava Leaf.
    • Cherlyn will help you, but she must remain alive.

[130][Sorceress of Red Flames] Cherlyn the Sorceress
Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
  1. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10).
  2. Talk to Ion in Viron (F10).
  3. Collect Bristia Style Meat Stew x1.
    • Diary Analyst in Abertal trades the recipe for Old Journal 2 x25.
    • The required ingredients are Clear Rum x50, Brawn x10, Wolf Meat x10, Comodo Meat x10, and Cook Stone x1.
    • Clear Rum can be acquired by looting from monsters in Reboldoeux Culverts and Errac Land of Day/Night. Cook Stone can be acquired from Grade 0-9 Alchemy. Other ingredients can be acquired from your personal farm.
  4. Talk to Ion in Viron (F10) to give the above item.
  5. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10).
  6. Trigger a combat mission ("Sorceress of Red Flames", 30 minutes) in Topolo Durga (D5).
    • Defeat Lava Leaf by using a quest version of Cherlyn (MCC1). Your own team will be disabled.
    • Tip: There are several spots nearby with gauge bars. When the gauge bar is full, it will inflict [Freezing] status (immobilized, reduced RES) for 10 seconds on Lava Leaf if it is within its area of effect.
    • Tip: Lure Lava Leaf to the debuff spots. Buff herself with Fire Aura skill, and then just use her various damage skills.
    • Tip: Use Fire Golem Control skill to summon her Fire Golem, and let it tank Lava Leaf.
    • Tip: Cherlyn will receive various buffs at times, including Principal, Magic Enhancement, Divine Bless, and Restore.
    • Tip: Lava Leaf can inflict Burn status, and buff itself with Lava Aurora (DEF +200) or Lava Field (Magic RES +70).

[130][Sorceress of Red Flames] Rematch
Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
  1. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10) to start a combat mission ("Sorceress of Red Flames vs Summoner of Steel", 5 minutes).
    • Defeat Steel Ararat by using a quest version of Cherlyn (MCC1). Your team will be disabled.
    • Tip: This is similar to the previous mission. Lure Steel Ararat to the debuff spots.
    • Tip: Summon Fire Golem and let it tank. When Steel Ararat turns on Cherlyn, lure it to the debuff spots again.

[130][Sorceress of Red Flames] A Place Where She Stays
Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
Reward: Cherlyn Character Card.
  1. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3).
  2. Talk to Cherlyn in Strange Hut (G10) for reward.


Before v26.19.55, the following quests require you to have completed Recruit Viki quests instead. If you have already started the quest, you may continue with it even if you have not recruited Cherlyn.

Cherlyn must be included in the team to initiate all NPC dialogues.


[60][Witch Craft] Apology of Cherlyn
Prerequisites: Completed Recruit Cherlyn quests (see above).
  1. Trigger quest mail by moving to any town with Cherlyn (or Snowflake Cherlyn) in the team.
  2. Trigger a quest dialogue in El Tejado Verde (D11).
  3. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3).

[60][Witch Craft] Establishing Trust
Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
  1. Kill Demonischem x50, Striped Spider of Lightning x50, and Lightning Gavi di Gavi x50 in El Tejado Verde.
  2. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3).

[60][Witch Craft] Magic Scroll of Cherlyn
Prerequisites: Completed the quest above.
Reward: Witch Craft (AR34 magic scroll) x1.
  1. Collect the following items.
    • Ambrosia x1
    • Magic Weapon Crystal - Grade 33 x1
    • Elemental Jewel x5
    • Magical Pages (quest item) x20: Kill Haunted Book (50%) in Dr. Torsche's Mansion Grand Library.
  2. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3) to give the above items.
  3. Repeat steps 1-2 again on the next day.
  4. Repeat steps 1-2 for a third time on the next day.
  5. Talk to Ulrik in Strange Hut (G3) to give the above items, receive reward, and start a non-combat mission ("Cherlyn and Black Lightning").
Note: Completing this quest also allows you to acquire Treasure Golem Piece artifact for Essence of Corruption x500.
