Knight of Chaos

This mission was revised in v23.13.92. For an earlier version of this raid mission, see Knight of Chaos (v22.43.79) instead. Unlike the previous version, there is no easy mode. The featured loot of this mission are Red Armonium Ore, Abyss Pieces, and Recipe - Armonia Gloves. In v23.63.43, Page - Placidez was added to the roulette.

This guide is based on American game client (v23.41.50), then updated in v23.63.43.

Raid Preparation
A tank (e.g. Sirius) is required for this mission. The tank should also bring Veronif, Elisa, or Valeria to deal with Shock status.

A dedicated dispel team is recommended to prevent the boss from using area attacks. Optionally, any attack team with Emilia can use Whole Cancellation skill on him as and when available, or simply use Refresh Mind skill on the dispelling character.

The boss has high DEF Rating, so debuffers are recommended to shave it off, especially Lisa with Lv.12 Grinding rings and trigger-enchanted daggers, Leonele with Lv.11-12 Mark, Battle Smith Idge, etc. The mobs can hit quite hard, so attackers may want to use Emilia for Protection Field skill when necessary.


1. Destroy Dimension Gates
At the start, a zone notice will say: Destroy the Dimension Gates of Abyss located on both sides in 5 minutes. There will be some corrupted monsters protecting each gate, located at E3 and H3. Let the tank draw their aggression, while the attackers destroy the gates before the gauge bars are empty. The monsters will vanish after the gate is destroyed.

If both gates are destroyed within 5 minutes, a zone notice will say: Chaotic Knight, Dullahan has been summoned.

Otherwise, you will not be able to attack the gates and a zone notice will say: The Dimension Gates will open in 2 minutes. The notice will announce again in 1 minute, and again 30 seconds. Thereafter, you will have to repeat until both gates are destroyed within 5 minutes after opening.


2. Kill Dullahan Knight
Dullahan boss deals melee damage with its normal attacks. It has 2 circular area attack skills. Shelak Craft skill deals melee damage and inflicts Mortal Wound status. Blitz Corp skill deals lightning damage and inflicts Shock status. Use Whole Cancellation skill on him to prevent him from using those skills.

The boss may change his target at times, so it is important for the tank to keep provoking him. At the start, use Viki's Tenderaiser to inflict Burn status as soon as possible to reduce him to 75% HP. He can also periodically remove any summoned monster near him.

Eventually, some Corrupted Dullahan Guardians may come towards the boss from the lower end of the map. Just kill them when they appear.

There are 4 other things to note when dealing with this boss.

(a) HP Absorption
The boss can absorb certain types of damage as HP. It will say in white (public) chat window: Absorbs melee (or shooting, or magical) attack as HP. When this happens, the related characters should not attack him until his gauge bar becomes empty.

Affected characters should instead focus on mobs and the gates. For example, if he is absorbing magic attack, then all magic-based characters should stop hitting the boss and attack the gates and mobs instead. The boss may change the damage absorption later, so pay attention to what it says.




(b) Shock Fields
Periodically, shock fields will appear near the boss' target (usually the tank). The fields can inflict Shock status, which can make the target vulnerable to melee attacks. It can be removed with Veronif's Alchemy, Valeria's Redemption, or Elisa's Deresist skills. Emilia can also use Ignore Harm skill to resist the status.




(c) Zombie Bombs
Dullahan Knight may summon Victims of War nearby, especially when he says: Lead them to Abyss. Victims of War have extremely high AR/DR (177), but they move very slow and do not change target. When they get close to their targets, they will use Suicide Bomb skill to self-destruct. If you notice a Victim of War is following you, let him get close and then when he starts casting, quickly move away out of its area effect. Magic Barrier skill may also help somewhat.

(d) Gates of Abyss
Eventually, a zone notice will say: The Gate of Abyss has been summoned. Corrupted Dullahan Attackers and Lancers will spawn from the 3 gates located at F3/G3, E5/F5, and G5. If the boss has started HP Absorption, have the affected characters focus on destroying the gates and clearing the mobs.

In this revised version, monsters appear from the gates very quickly, so it is vital to destroy the gates as soon as possible. Use Protection Field skill to protect against the monsters, if necessary. Corrupted Dullahan Attackers can inflict Lv.1 Blood Curse status (Max HP -12%, Max SP -6%, DEF -23, Movement Speed -12%).

Reward
Once the boss is dead, a zone notice will say: Treasure chest has appeared. Click on the chest at boss' spawn point to start the roulette. The boss does not drop anything. Bonus roulette costs 4,000,000 Vis.

In v23.63.43, Page - Placidez was added to the roulette.

  2. Yes. They did, but mobs from gate spawn much faster now. It is mentioned in the latest Patch Notes.

    just wasn't happy with my Diablo pet not working. but they fixed it finally with yesterdays maint.
